The Girmann family is in its second (soon to be third!) generation of aquatic construction and maintenance. Mark Girmann started Girmann's Landscaping and Swimming Pool Co. in 1982 in Horse Shoe, NC. Joseph learned under him as both a teenager and a young man. After Mark's semi-retirement, Joseph went on to found The Emerald Grotto, specializing in pool building throughout Western North Carolina.
We decided to partner with Desjoyaux Pools because they are truly a pool company built for the mountains. Where other pool systems run into issues from winter weather, dense leaf litter in the fall, and heavy pollen in the spring, Desjoyaux naturally and effortlessly solves those problems, as if they had them in mind during the design process. When we're not creating paradise in backyards, we can usually be found exploring the many trails, waterfalls, and rock overhangs of Western North Carolina—or decked out in our finest geeky gear at the nearest Renaissance festival.
